The short version: your photos never leave your Mac.

What stays on your Mac

Scanning, previewing and recovering all happen on your computer. Your photos, videos, the files Shotback finds, and your scan results are never uploaded to us or anyone else. Shotback goes online only to activate your license and to check for updates.

What we collect

• Purchase details, handled by Dodo Payments, our payment provider and merchant of record. We don't see or store your card number.
• Your license email, so we can send your key and help you if you write in.
• An activation record — your license key and a one-way hashed identifier for your Mac, so a license can't be used on unlimited machines. We can't reverse it to identify your device.
• Download-link emails, only if you ask us to email you the download link.

What we don't collect

No photos, no files, no scan results, and no in-app usage analytics.

Website analytics

This site uses Cloudflare Web Analytics, which is cookieless and doesn't track you across sites.
